John A Cherry, Foreign Member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, and Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. He is currently at the University of Guelph, Canada, as an Adjunct Professor, Director of the University Consortium for Field Focused Groundwater Research, and Associate Director of the G360 Institute for Groundwater Research, which is the largest university-based groundwater research institute in Canada. He also holds the title of Distinguished Emeritus Professor at the University of Waterloo, Canada, where he was a faculty member in groundwater science (1971-2006), and an Honorary Professor, University of Hong Kong. He has received many awards and honours from scientific and professional organizations in Canada, the United States and the UK and most recently was awarded the Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize (Singapore), 2016, for global contributions to groundwater knowledge and technology. His current researches focus on collaborative, multidisciplinary studies of groundwater systems as they relate to the chemical evolution of natural and contaminated water in unfractured and fractured aquifers and aquitards and on the advancement of engineered groundwater monitoring systems for improved insights about groundwater flow and hydrogeochemistry.
