The 11th China-German Workshop on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Held in Pu’er, Yunnan

The 11th China-German Workshop on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services, jointly held by CRAES and the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation of Germany (BfN), was held in Pu'er City, Yunnan Province on February 19-22, 2019. Mr. Li Haisheng, president of CRAES, and Ms. Beate Jessel, president of BfN, delivered keynote speeches in the workshop respectively.

With the theme of “Strategy, Tools and Practice”, in-depth exchange and discussions on three topics including the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework, Natural Assets Accounting and the National Parks & Protected Area System were conducted. With the fruitful achievements, the workshop has made great contribution for the preparation of the 15th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP15), which will be held in 2020 in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China.

More than 70 participants, mainly academic experts from Chinese and German biodiversity conservation research institutions, as well as the representatives of international organizations, local government and nature reserve administration attended the workshop. Participants from other European countries and international organizations were also increasingly involved, including UK, Delegation of EU in China, UNSD, and the UN Environment.
