12th Chinese-German Workshop on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services held online

The 12th Chinese-German Workshop on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services, jointly held by Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences (CRAES) and the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation of Germany (BfN), was held online from Sept 8 to 9.

Delivering a speech at the opening ceremony, Deputy Chief Engineer of CRAES, Wu Xue Fang highlighted the successful cooperation in the field of biodiversity between the two sides, calling for more broader, targeted and effective collaborations as well as a more closer and enduring bond.

Under the theme of Integrated nature-based solutions for environmental and social benefits, attendees exchanged views on how to integrate biodiversity in nature-based solutions as well as approaches in restoring terrestrial, river and wetland ecosystems.

More than 40 representatives from about 15 organizations, including UN Environment,  International Union for Conservation of Nature, ICLEI East Asia Secretariat, German Agency for International Cooperation and Beijing Forestry University, etc., gathered for the virtual meeting.
