2025-07-15

On July 14, 2025, the delegation of Singapore’s Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment(MSE), headed by Permanent Secretary Mr. Stanley Loh, visited the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences (CRAES) to explore opportunities for cooperation in environmental science and technology. The delegation was received by Ms. Liu Chunyan, Party Committee Secretary of CRAES, and the meeting was chaired by Prof. Song Yonghui, Chief Scientist of CRAES.

Ms. Liu extended a warm welcome to the delegation and presented a brief introduction of CRAES concerning its general profile, progress in scientific research and innovation, as well as its international cooperation initiatives. She noted that since the environmental authorities of China and Singapore signed the first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on environmental cooperation in 2004, both sides have continuously deepened collaboration, with environmental technology being a key area. Under the guidance of both governments, CRAES stands ready to actively engage in environmental technology exchanges and cooperation with Singapore. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore. CRAES is ready to take this opportunity to contribute more to an All-Round High-Quality Future-oriented Partnership, as well as to jointly advancing the Green Belt and Road Initiative.

Mr. Stanley Loh expressed his sincere gratitude to Ms. Liu and CRAES for their warm reception and highly commended China’s remarkable achievements in ecological and environmental protection. He stated that MSE is willing to maintain ongoing communication with CRAES in areas of mutual interest, actively explore practical cooperation to jointly address environmental challenges, and promote continuous improvement in regional environmental quality as well as long-term stable development.

Researchers from CRAES and the delegation had in-depth discussions on air pollution prevention and control, solid waste management, clean production and circular economy, and environmental health.

Following the meeting, Mr. Stanley Loh and his delegation visited the Supersite for Urban Air Comprehensive Observation and Research, and the Comprehensive Experimental Building.
