Norwegian Environment Agency Delegation Attends Progress Meeting for Sino-Norwegian Methane Project at CRAES

  On September 26, 2025, a progress meeting for the Sino-Norwegian Project on Methane from Livestock Production and Waste Management, led by the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences (CRAES), was successfully convened in Beijing. The meeting was attended by Mr. Chen Sheng, Vice President of CRAES, along with a delegation led by Ms. Hilde Singsaas, Director General of the Norwegian Environment Agency. Ms. Xue Jie, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Center, chaired the meeting.

  

  In the opening remarks, Chen Sheng extended a warm welcome to the Norwegian representatives and emphasized the projects significance in advancing international cooperation on methane reduction. In her subsequent address, Ms. Hilde Singsaas spoke highly of the achievements made through bilateral collaboration and expressed Norway's willingness to further deepen cooperation.

  CRAES presented an overview of the project’s latest progress, covering the methane emission profiles, status assessments, emission factor research, cost-benefit analysis and management and control policies in livestock and waste management. The Norwegian delegation highly commended the results achieved to date. Both sides shared experiences and best practices in methane mitigation and offered constructive proposals for the next phase of cooperation.

  The meeting successfully advanced scientific collaboration between China and Norway on methane control and laid a solid foundation for further enhancing bilateral environmental cooperation.

  Representatives from the Royal Norwegian Embassy in China, the National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation (NCSC), as well as the Institute of Atmospheric Environment of CRAES also attended the meeting.
