On October 14, 2025, Quan Zhanjun, Vice President of the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences (CRAES), received a delegation led by Professor Carolien Kroeze, President of Wageningen University & Research (WUR) . The two sides exchanged views on deepening scientific and technological cooperation.

Quan warmly welcomed President Kroeze and her delegation and gave a brief overview of CRAES concerning its general profile, progress in scientific research and innovation, as well as its international cooperation initiatives. He emphasized that both institutions have already established extensive cooperation in areas such as biodiversity, environmental health and sustainable development, contributing to the national strategy for sustainable development. He expressed his hope to deepen mutual understanding and expand cooperation through joint research projects, graduate training and academic activities, aiming to further partnership.
President Kroeze expressed her sincere gratitude for the warm reception and admiration for CRAES’s research accomplishments. She also praised China's achievements in ecological civilization and sustainable development, particularly highlighting the innovative approach of CRAES in supporting government decision-making through scientific research. She noted that WUR and CRAES share many commonalities in fundamental research, applied research and graduate education. She expressed WUR's willingness to maintain communication and promote practical cooperation to jointly address global ecological and environmental challenges.
Researchers from CRAES provided detailed presentations on research progress in biodiversity conservation, air pollution prevention, and environmental health. The two sides had in-depth discussions on potential cooperation in these fields and reached a preliminary agreement to deepen their collaboration.

Following the discussions, the delegation visited CRAES' Comprehensive Experimental Building and the Supersite for Urban Air Comprehensive Observation and Research.
