November 21, 2025 - The Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) unveiled the results of its 2025 election. Professor XI Beidou, President of the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences (CRAES), has been elected as an academician to CAE in the Division of Environment & Light and Textile Industries Engineering.

　　A leading expert in solid waste treatment and resource utilization, Professor Xi is a distinguished recipient of the Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award and the National Distinguished Young Scholars Fund. He has been selected for the National High-Level Talents Special Support Program and recognized as one of National Outstanding Professional and Technical Talents.

　　His pioneering work has earned him top national honors, such as one First Prize of the National Technological Invention Award, two Second Prize of the National Scientific and Technological Progress Awards, one Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, and five First Prizes at the provincial and ministerial levels. He has authored or co-authored over 400 academic papers, published 15 books in Chinese and English, and holds nearly 200 national invention patents.
