Prof. Dr.-Ing. Martin Grambow, expert of sustainable water and soil management, Academician of European Academy of Sciences and Arts. He studied civil engineering at Technische Universität München (TUM), and graduated with a Diplom-Ingenieur in 1986, and with a Doktor-Ingenieur in 2005, and was appointed Honorary Professor of TUM in 2012. He was until 2024 Director General Water and Soil at the Bavarian Ministry of Environment and Consumer Protection of Germany. Dr. Grambow is member of several institutions and foundations, notably the European Academy of Science and Arts (EASA) and the “Bavarian Water Foundation”, and he is currently the spokesperson of the International Experts of Earth System Preservation (IESP), an institute of the EASA and an Institute of Advanced Sciences of the TUM. Dr. Grambow has profound knowledge and wide experience in water and soil management issues in regional and river basin levels, like the Rhine River and the Danube River of Europe, and the Liaohe River and the Dianchi Lake of China; he is author of various books and articles primarily focusing on the application of concepts for sustainable water resource management. He contributes to international activities carried out by various institutions including World Bank, European Union or Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). Dr. Grambow has carried out many dialogues and exchanges with partners of the Asia Region, and his main task today is the holistic transdisciplinary understanding of the outcome of the Anthropocene and developing sound strategies against unintended side effects.
