CRAES and Satbayev University Sign Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation

  On June 30, 2025, the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences (CRAES) and Satbayev University of Kazakhstan formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation through a virtual signing ceremony. Dr. Quan Zhanjun, Vice President of CRAES, and Meiram Begentayev, Rector of Satbayev University, attended the signing ceremony, endorsing the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions.

  

  Dr. Quan stated that since the visit of the Satbayev University delegation to CRAES for exchange and cooperation in March 2025, our collaboration has progressed smoothly.  We've established extensive cooperation in atmospheric environment and water ecology. He emphasized that President Xi Jinpings recent visit to Kazakhstan for the Second China-Central Asia Summit profoundly articulated the essence of the China-Central Asia Spirit, charting the course for high-quality scientific cooperation with Central Asian institutions. And our MoU concretely implements these guiding principles. Looking forward, he noted that this well-timed partnership holds immense promise. Through this MoU, we will deepen practical cooperation in atmospheric environment, water ecology, and ecological conservation while sharing green development expertise. Our joint efforts will inject sustainable momentum into building a China-Central Asia community with a shared future.

  Rector Meiram Begentayev highly commended Chinas remarkable achievements in advancing ecological civilization and recognized CRAESs scientific and technological innovations in air pollution control. He noted that: As Chinas premier eco-environmental research institution, CRAES is  an honored partner. This collaboration holds significance for Kazakhstans environmental governance and sustainable development. Concluding his remarks, the rector expressed commitment to enhancing practical cooperation with CRAES, leveraging Chinas proven approaches to explore scientific solutions for Kazakhstan's environmental quality enhancement.

  Both sides conducted in-depth discussions on priority cooperation areas and working-level communication mechanisms, reaching consensus to deepen mutual understanding of respective strengths and needs with a commitment to translating collaboration into concrete outcomes.
