2026-03-20

From March 11 to 14, 2026, the 51st International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva was held at Palexpo in Geneva, Switzerland. Recognized as one of the world’s three major invention exhibitions, this year’s event brought together over 1,000 inventions from 35 countries and regions, showcasing cutting-edge innovations across a wide range of fields.

Following a rigorous evaluation by an international jury, the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences (CRAES) received two gold medals, three silver medals, and one bronze medal for six technologies presented at the exhibition. Among these, Multi-Objective Monitoring, Early Warning, and Pollution Remediation Technology System for Groundwater was awarded both a Special Award and a Gold Medal. A Method for Preparing Multi-metal Ozone Catalysts via Combined Blending-Impregnation also received a Gold Medal.

Three technologies earned Silver Medals: Method for Preparingβ-PDI/MIL-101(Fe) Photocatalyst and Applications, An Osmotic Microbial Fuel Cell that Can Reduce Membrane Fouling and Concentration Polarization, and Self-Recovery Air Quality Sensor and the Taxi-Based Sensor Network. The Integrated Prediction and Early Warning System for Algal Blooms was awarded a Bronze Medal. These technologies offer innovative solutions in areas such as groundwater monitoring and treatment, water pollution prevention and remediation, air pollution control, and clean energy technologies.

During the exhibition, the CRAES delegation presented the academy’s latest advances in research and institutional development to participants, and held in-depth, substantive discussions with exhibitors from a number of countries. Participation in the event helped raise CRAES’s international profile and influence within the sector, opened up new avenues for international cooperation in environmental science and technology, and strengthened the foundation for promoting and scaling up CRAES’s environmental technologies abroad. Ambassador Qian Minjian of the Chinese Embassy in Switzerland visited the CRAES exhibition area, where he received a detailed briefing on the technologies on display and engaged in extensive discussions with the team. He expressed strong recognition and high appreciation for the academy’s scientific and technological innovations showcased at the exhibition.

Founded in 1973, the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva (IEIG) is co-organized by the Swiss Federal Government, the State of Geneva, the City of Geneva, and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). As one of the longest-running and largest events of its kind, it serves as a major international platform for showcasing inventions and fostering collaboration between research, industry, and academia. Each year, the exhibition attracts thousands of inventions from approximately 40 countries and regions. Its awards are widely regarded for their rigorous selection process and international credibility. This year, the Chinese delegation featured 237 inventions across 212 booths, covering fields such as environmental protection, renewable energy, electronics, medicine, construction, and transportationmarking its largest presence at the exhibition to date.
