On March 16, the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences (CRAES) welcomed a delegation of 75 officials from developing countries. The delegation was in China to participate in two training programs—the Seminar on Green Development and International Cooperation in Developing Countries and the Seminar on Advancing Green Development under the Belt and Road Initiative—held by the Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO) of the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (MOFCOM).
During the visit, CRAES shared China’s experience in eco-industrial park governance and facilitated interactive discussions with the delegates. Mr. Liang Heng, Vice President of CRAES, welcomed the delegation and delivered opening remarks.
A highlight of the engagement was a presentation by CRAES titled Policy Mechanisms and Practical Cases of Pollution Reduction and Carbon Emission Mitigation in China’s Eco-Industrial Parks. The presentation offered an overview of the policy landscape, representative models, implementation pathways, and benchmark cases that have shaped China’s approach to reducing pollution and carbon emissions in industrial parks. It also outlined the foundation for environmental collaboration between CRAES and Belt and Road Initiative partner countries, along with future opportunities for international cooperation on low-carbon industrial park development under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization.
The foreign delegates actively engaged in discussion, raising questions on topics such as the institutional framework for green and low-carbon industrial park development, regulatory oversight and responsible entities, access to environmental and economic data, and the integration of artificial intelligence technologies.
Following the session, the delegation toured the National Engineering Laboratory for Lake Pollution Control and Ecological Restoration, the Key Laboratory of Vehicle Emission Control and Simulation of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and the CRAES Comprehensive Experimental Center.
Relevant officials from AIBO, MOFCOM, along with representatives from CRAES’s International Cooperation Center and Cleaner Production and Circular Economy Research Center, attended the event.
