CRAES Hosts International Officials for Green Economy and Environmental Protection Exchange
2026-05-26

Beijing, 21 May 2026 The Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences (CRAES) welcomed a delegation of participants from the Seminar on Green Economy and Environmental Protection under the Global Development Initiative, organized by the Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO) of the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (MOFCOM). The visit provided a platform for in-depth exchange on China’s experience in eco-industrial park governance and lowcarbon transition strategies.

CRAES delivered a thematic report titled Green and Low-Carbon Transformation Pathways and Case Analysis of China’s Industrial Parks. The report systematically reviewed the development achievements, practical models, and global relevance of China’s industrial parks as pilot zones for implementing the country’s dualcarbon goals (carbon peaking and carbon neutrality), framed within Chinas broader ecological civilization strategy.

The delegation also toured the Key Laboratory of Vehicle Emission Control and Simulation (Ministry of Ecology and Environment) and the CRAES Comprehensive Experimental Center. During the visits, participants engaged with CRAES researchers on technical topics such as PM2.5 sampling site selection and the timeliness of vehicle emission monitoring systems. They expressed strong appreciation for China’s progress in environmental protection and monitoring technologies.

The seminar was hosted by AIBO under MOFCOM. Since early 2026, CRAES has partnered with AIBO to enhance international outreach on China’s ecological civilization framework, having already received over 100 trainees from previous cohorts. The current group comprises more than 30 director and bureaulevel officials from developing countries, including Mongolia, Egypt, Nigeria, Panama, Tanzania, Brazil, and Cambodia.

This exchange not only showcased China’s institutional expertise and technological capabilities in green development and environmental governance, but also promoted mutual learning on sustainable practices under the framework of South-South Cooperation. It serves as a practical contribution to the implementation of China’s ecological civilization vision and to the collaborative development of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Global Development Initiative.

Relevant officials from AIBO, along with representatives from CRAES’s International Cooperation Center and Cleaner Production Center, attended the event.
