Beijing, 3 June 2026–A delegation from Singapore’s National Environment Agency (NEA), led by Deputy Chief Executive Mr. Ng Chun Pin, visited the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences (CRAES). The two sides held in-depth discussions focusing on solid waste management, circular economy, and other key areas. Mr. Xu Yisheng, Chief Engineer of CRAES, received the delegation.

Xu Yisheng extended a warm welcome to the delegation and provided an overview of the Academy’s research priorities and infrastructure. He noted that earlier online engagements between technical teams had already laid a solid groundwork for knowledge sharing. “This visit transforms our partnership from virtual dialogue to on-the-ground cooperation,” said Xu. “It opens a new chapter for mutual learning in waste treatment technologies, green development pathways, and low-carbon transition strategies.”
Ng Chun Pin spoke highly of CRAES' extensive experience and technological achievements in high-temperature thermal treatment of solid waste, pollution control, as well as identification and risk management of hazardous waste. He expressed the hope that both sides will take this visit as an opportunity to increase exchanges among researchers, accelerate the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), and steadily deepen practical cooperation.
Researchers from both sides engaged in deep-dive discussions on landfill management, waste tracking, solid waste recycling and utilization. Following the meeting, the delegation visited the Supersite for Urban Air Comprehensive Observation and Research, the Laboratory of Solid Waste High Temperature Thermal Treatment and Landfill Pollution Control, and the Key Laboratory of Hazardous Waste Identification and Risk Control under the Ministry of Ecology and Environment.
Staff from the International Cooperation Center, Institute of Solid Waste Pollution Control Technology and Cleaner Production and Circular Economy Research Center of CRAES attended the event.
