Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences

INTRODUCTION

The Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences (CRAES) was established on December 31, 1978, in affiliation with the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) of China. CRAES also conducts a series of scientific and international cooperation activities which support the country’s overall environmental protection aims.

There are 1100 staff members at CRAES, including 5 academicians, 331 researchers at senior engineer level and 350 staff with Ph.D. degrees. CRAES has established a complete education system for M.S. and Ph.D. degrees as well as a mobile post-doctorate workstation.

Through implementation of the “Talent Strategy, Scientific and Technological Innovation Strategy and Environmental Standard Strategy”,an innovation system of environmental science and technology has been formed at CRAES. In total, there are 15 research departments, 2 state key laboratories and 8 ministerial laboratories, focusing on atmosphere, water, soil and solid waste, ecology, cleaner production, vehicle emission control, environmental engineering, environmental safety, as well as environmental standards and etc.
